Captain Ohana Dave (Eber)

Captain Dave, a former Biomedical Engineer from The Johns Hopkins Hospital and later a corporate executive with major medical & scientific device companies as Lumenis, Topcon, Alcon, and Thermo Fisher Scientific compelled into retirement by a rare form of Multiple Sclerosis (Called MOG Antibody Disease), has seamlessly transitioned into a very aquatic lifestyle. His journey reflects an enduring love for the sea cultivated since childhood. From early exploits of serving on the Ocean City’s Beach Patrol and being a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor to attaining his PADI Dive Instructor certification, his connection to water is intrinsic.

He has been scuba diving since 1984, serving for many years as a PADI Divemaster and now proudly a certified PADI Dive Instructor—living in the passionate wake of his late wife, whose adventurous spirit also as a PADI Dive Instructor continues to inspire every descent beneath the surface.

Possessing ASA certifications in Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising, and Barefoot Cruising, he embodies sailing finesse.

Armed with a current US Coast Guard 50 Ton Masters Captains License with the sailing endorsement, Captain Dave prioritizes maritime safety and expertise. His unwavering commitment is evident in his continuous pursuit of knowledge through ongoing training, ensuring that Ohana's voyages transcend mere adventures, offering secure and unforgettable maritime experiences. Captain Dave's dedication underscores not only his proficiency but also his dedication to crafting moments at sea that are both safe and eternally cherished.
